MEETING PLACE - SUPPORTING EVENTS (October 2007 - March 2008)

A SERIES OF TALKS AND EVENTS ON CONTEMPORARY ART AND THE HERITAGE SECTOR HAVE BEEN ORGANISED TO ACCOMPANY THE MEETING PLACE EXHIBITION:

SATURDAY 06 OCTOBER 2007 MEETING PLACE: COACH TRIP AN OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT BOTH EXHIBITION SITES.

MORNING SESSION

10.00am - 12.00pm: text+work, the Gallery, the Arts Institute at Bournemouth. An introduction to the exhibition followed by a gallery visit.

Coach departs 12.00pm from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth car park for the Russell–Cotes Art Gallery & Museum.

AFTERNOON SESSION

1.00 - 4.30pm: Exhibiting artist talk (Christian Edwardes and Tim Edgar) and tour of the Museum’s collection.

Coach departs 5.00pm from Russell–Cotes Art Gallery & Museum to return to the Arts Institute at Bournemouth car park.

Artist Afternoon Talks & Tours:

Throughout the months of October through to December 2007, the MEETING PLACE exhibiting artists will present the background to their practice and their responses to the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, in a series of Saturday afternoon talks to take place at the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum.

Saturday 6 October 2007 / 2.30 – 4.30pm Afternoon talks on alternative Saturdays thereafter until Saturday 1 December 2007. ADMISSION FREE

Guided Peer Talks: Throughout the duration of the exhibition, pupils from Poole High School will take Russell–Cotes Art Gallery & Museum visitors on unrehearsed guided tours of the museum’s collections and of the MEETING PLACE Exhibition. ADMISSION FREE

Saturday 13 October 2007: Hourly sessions from 2.00pm onwards. Guided peer tours on alternative Saturdays thereafter until 16 February 2008.

MEETING PLACE Finale: Russell–Cotes Art Gallery & Museum 28 February 2008 from 7.30pm

The exhibition finale will open with a twilight symposium at the Russell–Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, exploring the role of the museum in education. Professionals from the arts sector will discuss, delve, and debate this theme. £6 per ticket to include buffet. Free to MEETING PLACE participating artists.
